Vision

Providing the highest level of protection from vectors and vector-borne diseases in San Gabriel Valley by suppressing vector populations to reduce outbreaks of human diseases and public nuisances; and increasing the quality of life for the residents of the District.

Mission

We employ integrated vector management (IVM) techniques, which include public education and outreach; surveillance; biological control; physical control and/or habitat modification; chemical control; research; partnering with other agencies; legal action where necessary; enforcement of the California Health and Safety Code; and as governed by federal and state law.

Administration Department

The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District was established in 1989 to protect residents from vector-borne diseases, more specifically at that time, to address a local outbreak of a mosquito-borne disease called St. Louis encephalitis.

Communications Department

The Communications department promotes District services and raises awareness about current and emerging vector-related public health issues.

Surveillance Department

The Surveillance Department monitors the abundance of disease-carrying insects and occurrences of vector-borne diseases, as well as all technical aspects of the overall program.
