Wise Up Your Water Use

Are You Water Wise?
If you keep seeing mosquitoes in your neighborhood, the reason might be in your own yard ...
We want to help you create a healthy home and environmentally conscious community. So we've partnered with the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District to help you wise up your water use and get rid of mosquitoes.
Do you have stagnant water 💦 on your property?
Do you have containers, plant saucers, and anything else that can retain water on your property?
Do you have dense vegetation 🌳 where mosquitoes rest from the heat on your property?
If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then you're attracting mosquitoes & not using water wisely.
When we have stagnant water in our yard, we breed mosquitoes & affect everyone in our community. Whereas water used properly can be a great ecological step forward for your household.
WISE UP WITH THESE TIPS 💦
#1) Tip 'N Toss stagnant water once a week
Checking for stagnant water around your home takes only 10 minutes. Our tip to you is to do it on trash day since you're already outside. You can also test Your Water Knowledge with Upper District’s Swag Bag Giveaway (from March 7th to May 30th).
#2) Check for leaks
Did you know minor water leaks account for nearly a trillion gallons of wasted water each year and is equal to annual household water use in nearly 11 million homes?! That’s a lot of water. So, it's Upper District’s goal to inspire residents and commercial property owners to be aware of their water usage and nip water leaks at the drip!
Fix a Leak week is from March 14-20th, 2022 & the Upper District encourages families to check for water leaks and drips throughout the home. It's also an opportunity to teach kids about water conservation and water resources.
#3) Landscape mosquitoes out
Many SoCal yards have non-native plants that grow densely with large leaves that provide resting places for mosquitoes to beat the heat. You can ditch the density & landscape mosquitoes out with CA Native plants.
The Upper District also offers perfect water-efficient and mosquito-free yard classes (register HERE).
