Outreach Efforts
- Enhanced Neighborhood Support (ENS) has been conducted in several neighborhoods. This includes door-to-door property inspections, delivery of educational material, and residential alerts to disease threats.

Public Health Teacher of the Year
- Mr. Dev from Sierra Madre Middle School is celebrated as the Public Health Teacher of the Year for 2022!
- Ravi Dev Anandhan is a teacher in the Pasadena USD and completed the first Train-The-Trainer (T.T.T.) program led by our Education Specialists. Mr. Dev is awarded for using T.T.T. lessons and enrolling 168 students to Operation Mosquito G.R.I.D.

- So before the year ends, take advantage of our free Professional Development Opportunity, Train-The-Trainer. Middle school science teacher can mobilize students, enhance microscope skills, and identify micro-wildlife with our citizen science program Operation Mosquito G.R.I.D.

- This Winter, we are creating more content in other languages that resonate with residents in the San Gabriel Valley. This has been one of our 2022 goals and are looking forward to reducing the language barrier in 2023.

- ‘Tis the season for holiday shopping. Check out our latest blog post on the 6 Sustainable Gifts Everyone Needs This Holiday Season and give the gift that repels mosquitoes all year long.
- The Surveillance Department continues to focus on maintaining essential vector surveillance including mosquito trap routes, arbovirus testing, providing weekly surveillance data to the District, and maintaining the mosquito fish and mosquito colonies.
- This month, the average number of Aedes mosquitoes caught per trap continued to decline from the previous month.
- Aedes mosquitoes, also known as ankle biters, are not as active during the cold weather. Currently, these black-and-white striped mosquitoes are considered nuisance biters and are not spreading any diseases locally.
