  • Let the games begin! Gamification is a popular tool that our Education Specialists use to explain NGSS-aligned concepts with mosquitoes. During the Winter, we update or revamp games for students to play in our Classroom Programs.

  • The Surveillance Department continues to focus on maintaining essential vector surveillance including mosquito trap routes, arbovirus testing, providing weekly surveillance data to the District, and maintaining the mosquito fish and mosquito colonies.
  • This month, routine mosquito surveillance was conducted with the average of 70 traps set each week.
  • Aedes mosquitoes, also known as ankle biters, are still active. Currently, these black-and-white striped mosquitoes are considered nuisance biters and are not spreading any diseases locally.
