Short Bites Monthly

October 2020
Thanks to feedback from Bite Back Champions, we are piloting a monthly digest of what's happening at San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (SGVMVCD). This is another step in ensuring that our data as a public health agency remains transparent to the public and to people who are interested in our mission.

- 6,500 residents received educational material to raise awareness about mosquito-borne illnesses and how to prevent them at home.
in research
- As Aedes mosquitoes become more prevalent throughout SoCal, staff has been quanitfying the role that natural breeding habitats play in mosquito population sizes.
- Advancements in ovitrap placement continue to aid the detection of Aedes mosquitoes. Ovitraps are special traps that collect the individual eggs laid by Aedes mosquitoes.
