Happy fall, SGV! We don't know about you, but we're ready for hot cider, pumpkins, and knit sweaters. In fact, we've been ready.
With our slow summer heat finally coming to an end, we can hope for a slight decline in local mosquito bite pressure. It's been a draining past few months for humankind-- and mosquito bellies couldn't be more content.
According to last week's (September 14-18) trap report, mosquito numbers were 6% higher compared to the same week in 2019.
Even as temperatures cool, mosquito appetites persist through to the winter!
Fun fact: Aedes mosquito eggs can hatch months after they're layed.
So be sure to do your weekly Tip, Toss, Protect, and know what kinds of plants mosquitoes love in your yard.
With West Nile virus moving through San Gabiel Valley, adult and student education can go a long way. And together, we've got a feeling mosquitoes don't stand a biting chance this fall.
