Dotted line shows the three-year average

Greetings San Gabriel Valley mosquito swat team! We've got another set of weekly trap data for you.

Last week (July 13-17), experts in our Surveillance Department recorded lower mosquito trap counts than the week before.

While this number is still 6.5% higher than it was in 2018, we like to celebrate the little things here at SGVMVCD. Officially marking a three-week streak of declining mosquitoes-- we've never been more proud.

Our next goal is to tackle the ever increasing Aedes mosquito population in SGV. As the summer heat continues to intensify, Aedes populations are expected too, as well.

Invasive Aedes mosquitoes are aggressive daytime and night-time biters whose populations are quickly rising in SGV

No bigger than the tip of your thumb, you may have spotted one of their most glamorous members, Ada Eez flying around your town or on social media.

So be sure to protect yourself from these hungry pests, and wear any of the active ingredients that mosquitoes hate.

With that, continue doing your part with a simple Tip, Toss, Protect; and don't forget to share your wise knowledge with friends and family!
